The entrance to the Illinois Chain O' Lakes State Park is a few minutes from Leisure Village. In fact, a small portion of the park can be seen across Leisure Lake.
Boating, fishing, horse-back riding, camping and a myriad of other activities are offered by the large state park. Portions of the park touch the Fox River. Many miles of waterway are open to explore. Kayaks and canoes are finding their way into the quieter reaches of the lake and river system.
Nippersink Creek runs throughout Northern Illinois and its canoe /kayak launch facility is within three miles of the LV entrance. A quiet drift down the creek opens onto Pistakee Bay, one of the Chain O' Lakes busier waterways.
